Job Description The successful applicant will have a high level of form generation and mechanical aptitude and an ability to work closely and collaboratively with design and engineering staff. Applicant will be comfortable in a fast-paced work environment and will be self-motivated to meet professional commitments and contribute to opportunities that positively impact the business.
Responsibilities
Participate in meetings with prospective and current clients
Provide brainstorm sketching, concept development and additional support of proposals, reports, and marketing materials for engineering driven projects as well as concept sketching, development and CAD modeling for design-driven programs
Draft sketches and illustrations of potential products or work on enhancing an existing product
Use blueprints, detailed drawings, or computer-aided designs to demonstrate product potential
Fabricate models using 3D printing and other prototype materials
Revise models according to client specifications
Research design trends and product limitations
Work with engineering, marketing, production, and/or sales departments to establish and evaluate design concepts for manufactured products
Perform research on appearance, safety, function, serviceability, budget, production costs/methods, and market characteristics
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design from accredited college
Minimum of 2 years of professional experience
Focus on human centered design thinking and empathy
Exceptional sketching abilities (use of digital sketching software)
Strong interest in brand design considerations and design language
Mastery of Solidworks (including surface and advanced assembly modeling)
Proficiency in additional CAD packages (Fusion 360, 3D surfacing type software) is beneficial
Demonstrated aptitude in mechanical systems
Knowledge of common manufacturing processes (e.g. injection molding, blow molding, metal forming, et al.)
Design Portfolio submission by PDF attachment or website link required for application
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Must be able to work in the USA without sponsorship or need for future sponsorship
