Bugatti Rimac is seeking an exceptionally skilled Senior CMF Designer with a strong background in new material development for the automotive luxury segment. The ideal candidate combines a refined aesthetic sensibility with deep technical expertise in material innovation, manufacturing processes, and sustainability. This role requires a future-oriented thinker who can translate brand values and emerging trends into tangible, emotionally engaging material experiences for next-generation luxury vehicles.
The Senior CMF Designer will lead the research, creation, and implementation of new materials, colors, and finishes that embody the brand’s vision of luxury, craftsmanship, and innovation.
Key Responsibilities & Tasks
1. Material Innovation & Development
Research, conceptualize, and develop new materials, colors, and finishes with a focus on luxury and advanced manufacturing.
Identification of new technologies, processes, and materials suitable for high-end automotive interiors and exteriors.
Collaborate closely with the entire CMF Team, Engineers, Technicians, Quality, Purchasing, suppliers and artisans to align within the design process to ensure the accomplishment of the several milestones.
Ensure all new materials meet automotive performance, durability, and regulatory standards without compromising design intent.
Lead prototype material creation, feasibility studies, and material testing phases.
2. Design Strategy & Methodology
Establish a structured, transparent CMF development methodology, from concept to industrialization, including documentation, specifications, and implementation guidelines.
Integrate trend forecasting, cultural insights, and innovation roadmaps into the CMF Material strategy to ensure long-term relevance and a preservation of brand values and visions
Build and maintain a materials library reflecting both heritage craftsmanship and future technologies.
3. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work in close collaboration with Exterior & Interior Design, Engineering, UX to ensure a cohesive material and color narrative.
Liaise with suppliers, Tier-1 partners, and production teams to ensure feasibility, quality, and consistency in material execution.
Regular Alignment within the CMF Team to collect needs for upcoming Projects, Individualisations, Sur Mesure Cars, Solitaire projects or other customer related topics.
4. Future Thinking & Brand Vision
Anticipate future luxury trends, translating them into actionable design strategies and tangible material expressions.
Develop concept materials and CMF palettes that project a 5–10-year vision for the brand.
Represent the CMF function in innovation forums, supplier workshops, and advanced design projects.
Key Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Design, Textile Design, Material Science, or a related field.
8+ years of experience in CMF design, preferably in the luxury automotive, fashion, furniture, or high-end consumer goods industries.
Proven track record of new material creation and implementation within complex industrial environments.
Strong understanding of luxury manufacturing techniques, including leather craftsmanship, metal finishing, natural materials, textiles, ceramics, and emerging biomaterials.
Solid experience in supplier collaboration, prototype building, and industrialization processes.
Excellent communication, presentation, and storytelling skills.
Advanced proficiency in CMF tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Substance Suite, VRED, Adobe After Effects or similar).
Fluent in English; additional languages (e.g. French, German, Italian) are an advantage.
