G. Everett is looking to add a motivated, hard working member to its team. Based in Columbus, Ohio, the successful candidate will play a dual role of design assistant and project manager. Currently envisioned to start on a contract to hire basis for up to 30 hours per week, ideally the individual will transition to full time.
First and foremost, this individual will help execute the creative vision that has made G. Everett a respected interior design studio. Under the guidance of the lead designer, you will be responsible for project tasks and deliverables. It is paramount that this person stays ahead of market trends and has the ability to translate the needs of our clients into an elevated design that is right for them.
The role will work through all phases of design including:
Pre-design
Schematic design
Design development
Construction documents
Construction administration
Additionally, this individual will assist in developing plans and design based on the needs of our specific clients. Everyone at G. Everett is responsible for project delivery, meaning this position will be responsible for ensuring that the project is on-time, on/under budget and meets G. Everett quality standards. This person will be responsible for developing drawings, presentations, cost estimates, proposals, and coordinating the work of contractors, installers and vendor partners. This role will be expected to deliver a high level of client service while paying strong attention to detail.
This role will have a heavy emphasis on project tracking, managing timelines and budgets, preparing reporting for both internal and client facing, communicating between internal project teams, external partners and clients. Strong ability to effectively manage multiple projects and deadlines is a must.
Additional responsibilities include:
Participates in strategic business growth initiatives
Serve as the day-to-day project contact for assigned portfolio, bringing clients along through the G. Everett interior design process
Represent G. Everett onsite during construction and installation
Manage all projects within the project management software and provide accurate status updates, both internally and client facing (this will be done in collaboration with the Lead Designer and Project Manager)
Proactively look ahead and manage through potential issues with project scope and budget
Support G. Everett team in any additional tasks needed
Academic and Trade Qualifications
Professional degree in interior design or proven experience in the design industry
Knowledge of furniture manufacturing industry and/or construction knowledge
Experience in project management managing different types of projects
Work Experience and Skills
At least 2-3 years as a designer
Experience in working with a small agile team
Must have an entrepreneurial spirit and willingness to dive into anything
Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suites (e.g., InDesign & Photoshop)
Strong with Google Suite (e.g., Docs, Gmail)
Demonstrated understanding of FF&E selection and specification
Ability to create space plans and room layouts
AutoCAD, Sketchup, or 3D rendering software knowledge
Photography experience huge plus
Excellent organizational and prioritizing skills with the ability to adapt to frequently changing priorities
Detail-oriented with accurate data entry skills
Resourceful and have strong retention and recall abilities
