Industrial Designer — Retail Displays & Merchandising

About the job

Industrial Designer — Retail Displays & Merchandising

iSEE Store Innovations | St. Louis, MO

About the Role

iSEE Store Innovations designs and manufactures retail displays and merchandising solutions for brands across a wide range of consumer categories. We turn merchandising challenges into physical solutions that help products stand out, engage shoppers, and perform at retail.

We’re looking for an Industrial Designer who can help us do more than execute ideas — we want someone who can help create them.

This role is for a creative problem solver who can take a loosely defined challenge, explore different ways to solve it, and develop the strongest ideas into compelling, manufacturable display designs. You should be able to think visually and physically: how a product is merchandised, how a shopper interacts with it, how something looks, how it goes together, and ultimately how it gets made.

As part of our design team, you’ll work cross-functionally with sales, creative, customers, and manufacturing partners to move ideas from early concept through production.

What You'll Do

  • Develop creative concepts for retail displays, fixtures, and merchandising solutions across a variety of brands, products, materials, and retail environments

  • Turn customer objectives, rough ideas, sketches, or open-ended challenges into thoughtful designs

  • Create sketches, 3D CAD models, and compelling renderings that communicate both the visual concept and how it works

  • Apply customer branding, packaging, products, materials, and finishes to create realistic presentations of concepts

  • Design with manufacturing in mind, considering materials, production processes, cost, assembly, shipping, installation, durability, and the realities of the retail environment

  • Create drawings, models, prototypes, and specifications that allow internal teams and manufacturing partners to evaluate and further develop a design

  • Collaborate with engineering, fabrication, and manufacturing partners to resolve technical details and move designs toward production

  • Assist in prototyping, testing, evaluating, and improving designs based on what you learn

  • Respond quickly and thoughtfully to customer feedback, changing requirements, material limitations, and production challenges

  • Contribute ideas proactively, not just when a project or task is assigned

What We're Looking For

  • Professional industrial design experience involving physical products, retail displays, fixtures, branded environments, or similar manufactured products

  • Strong industrial design fundamentals, including form, proportion, materials, usability, and brand translation

  • Strong concept development and visualization skills

  • Proficiency with 3D CAD and rendering/visualization tools; experience with SolidWorks, Rhino, KeyShot, Adobe Creative Suite, or comparable platforms

  • Working knowledge of design for manufacturing and an understanding of how materials and manufacturing processes influence design

  • Ability to develop clear drawings, models, specifications, and other documentation needed to communicate design intent

  • Experience collaborating with engineers, fabricators, manufacturers, or production vendors

  • A portfolio demonstrating both creative thinking and the ability to turn ideas into real, manufacturable products

Especially Valuable

  • 5 years with direct experience designing POP/POS displays, retail fixtures, or merchandising systems

  • Experience designing across multiple materials and manufacturing processes, including plastics, metal, wood, corrugated, or other sheet materials

  • Experience designing both temporary and permanent retail displays

  • Strong photorealistic rendering and visualization skills

  • Hands-on prototyping or fabrication experience

  • Experience designing for highly branded consumer products

  • Understanding of packaging, shipping, assembly, and retail installation considerations

Why iSEE

At iSEE, you won’t be one designer buried inside a large design department. You’ll have a meaningful voice in what we create and how we solve problems.

Our work spans everything from simple shelf solutions to permanent fixtures, temporary displays, floor-standing units, cooler merchandising, and entirely new display concepts. That variety means you’ll work across different materials, manufacturing processes, brands, products, and design challenges.

You’ll collaborate directly with the people developing ideas, selling them, managing projects, and manufacturing the finished product. You’ll have the opportunity to follow your work through the entire process — from an early sketch or conversation to a concept, prototype, production run, and ultimately a display sitting in a store.

Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who wants to help build our creative capability, not simply fill a design seat. As you learn our business, our customers, and the way we approach problems, we want you to become another source of ideas — someone who helps challenge assumptions, explore what’s possible, and shape what we create next.

To Apply: Please submit your resume and portfolio demonstrating your design process, concept development, visualization skills, and examples of work that progressed from idea toward production
