ICC Expands Leadership Team to Continue Growth in Innovation Education Partnerships
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
COLUMBUS, Ohio, December 4, 2020 - The International Center for Creativity, has named innovation industry veteran, Veronica J. Lynagh to their growing team, as Vice President of Strategic Initiatives. Lynagh will be focused on growing public and private partnerships, corporate programming and on creating development and project sponsorship opportunities for all of the ICC’s innovation and design education offerings.
Lynagh joins the team from The Henry Ford (Dearborn, MI) where she served as the Director of Invention Convention Worldwide, an internationally-recognized innovation learning network and STEM program comprised of 11 international and 22 statewide programs. Prior to her work at The Henry Ford she served as the Executive Vice President of the STEMIE Coalition, and was the Executive Director of Invention Convention Ohio (Columbus, Ohio). Lynagh previously was the Director of Sales and Marketing for the newly-formed Shows Group at the Dispatch Media Group, and DMG’s first digital division.
“We couldn’t be any more excited to be adding such an experienced innovation industry professional like Veronica to our team,” said ICC President and Co-founder Jim Stevenson. “I’ve known her for a long time and have always been impressed with her creativity, her ability to build relationships, and with her drive to deliver value to project sponsors and partners.”
Working in invention education Lynagh says students and families would often ask “what’s next” to becoming an inventor or what career track should they take.
“It’s the answer to the question I’ve been asked for years by families in this space. ICC is the ‘what’s next’ in pursuing a career in innovative, creative problem solving and design, and is the accredited creative space for our future problem solvers to expand their skills to change the world,” Lynagh said. “The current bachelors and masters programs, and future certificate and workshops offered at the ICC, focus on industrial design, design process and innovation providing the higher education that inquisitive, creative, problem-solving students need today.”
The ICC’s vision is to become a globally-recognized leader in innovation education. Lynagh will develop and lead the company’s robust partnership outreach programming for innovation-minded corporations. Further, she will develop new grade 6-12 student opportunities to grow awareness of careers in creativity.
“The ICC was founded as an industrial design school that delivered creative problem solvers to the marketplace, and when we founded the school over ten years ago, that was a pretty cutting-edge place to be,” said ICC CFO, Co-founder and Instructor, Tom Balliett. “However, while we started as an industrial design school that taught innovation, we are now an innovation firm that teaches industrial design and a lot more. It’s time to go to the next level and we’re excited to have Veronica on board to help us get there.”
Lynagh received her BA in Journalism from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, with a minor in leadership through the Air Force ROTC program. She currently serves on the steering committee for The Lemelson Foundation’s InventEd Community, serves as a board member of the Ohio’s Invention Convention program, the Invention League, and is a new leader of the Aspire 2050 team bringing robotics and AI into classrooms across the country.
