Earn an Exploration Badge in Digital Visualization

from the International Center for Creativity

Nothing beats a good sketch! Every great design starts with a sketch because there is no faster, more affordable and efficient way to communicate your ideas. But its always had its limitations...until now. Now you can bring your ideas to life and share them as well, with greater efficiency, increased visual accuracy, more creative options, unrivaled editability and all without giving up the fun and satisfaction of hand sketching. Learn to quickly and easily sketch 3D perspective forms by using the Procreate app for iPad from the instructors and staff designers at the International Center for Creativity.

The ICC is now awarding a Digital Visualization "Exploration Badge" for the successful completion of three, one-day workshop sessions taught by ICC staff.

  • Day One: Basics of Digital Visualization Techniques

Learn how to use the Procreate app through perspective sketching of basic 3D forms like boxes, cylinders, cones, and spheres.

  • Day Two: Basics of the Iterative Process and Ideation
Learn how to use the Procreate app's tools to iterate your idea and to rapidly create design concepts. You will also learn how to utilize artificial intelligence and photo underlays to represent many designs in correct proportion and scale to create your own new designs and iterations.

  • Day Three: Foundational Digital Visualization Techniques
Bring your concepts to life by learning to illustrate forms using highlights and shadows, colors, materials, textures and details.

What is Digital Visualization?

Digital Visualization sketching refers to the act of creating rough, preliminary drawings using digital tools and technologies. It's a technique that replicates traditional pencil-and-paper sketching but is done on tablets using a stylus. While this has been taking place for years on expensive, dedicated software and hardware tools, we have mastered the ability to get the same professional results of those now-dated systems by utilizing iPads, apps and styli. Digital Visualization-generated sketching offers numerous advantages, including increased flexibility, ease of correction, and the ability to work in a digital format from the start of the creative process.

Do I need my own iPad and Apple Pencil?

No! An iPad and Apple Pencil will be provided to attendees for use during the class. This class will have a limited number of seats and will be first come first serve. If you have your own iPad, Apple Pencil and Procreate App license (One-time purchase of $15), you will be automatically accepted to the class.

What is a digital badge?

An ICC digital badge indicates the successful completion of a non-accredited standardized course or topic. All courses and topics must meet pre-defined criteria including, but not limited to, total contact hours, instructor credentials, assessment, and feedback. Digital badges can be displayed personally online to help self-promote accomplishments. Viewers of the digital badges can then follow links to learn about the criteria and objectives of each course. Badge aggregator websites are also searchable to find employment candidates that meet specific criteria.
