2024 Senior Capstone Presentations

Industrial and Innovative Design students at the International Center for Creativity showcase their creative problem solving skills on a semester-long capstone project at the end of their senior year. Each person in the cohort follows the design process and tells a compelling story of their research, design thinking methods, ideation and refined concepts. Students work across multiple industries on a variety of projects including quick-serve restaurants, theme parks, footwear, food delivery, exhibit design, prosthetics, emergency rescue, wellness centers, mobility and fire service.

Dominique Capaldo

Using Service Design to Innovate The Drive-Thru Experience

Service design improves the experiences of both the user and employee by designing, aligning, and optimizing operations to better support customer journeys. It’s my pleasure to discover how we can innovate on the experiences for guests and employees in the Chick-Fil-A Drive Thru.

Tim Comstock

Ark Encounter Admissions Building and Process Redesign

The current admissions building at the Ark Encounter is a utilitarian, inefficient structure. This project aims to create a more efficient, thematically appropriate, experiential, and brand-new concept for Answers in Genesis.

Cassie Cunningham

Meadows Family Care Center at the Creation Museum

Museum visits can be difficult for parents of young children, individuals with limited mobility, and children with sensory needs. This project aims to prepare the Creation Museum to meet visitors' diverse needs, because through guest preparedness, Answers in Genesis can better champion each person’s value as image bearers of God.

Connor Dalrymple

Newton Trail Running Shoe

Develop a Newton trail running shoe with an innovative lacing system for stability, structure, and comfort on rocky terrain. Prioritize user experience by integrating advanced materials and ergonomic design elements. The goal is to enhance performance and agility, with the new lacing system aiming to reduce the leading injury amongst trail runners.

Nathan Dyer

Food delivery bag for individuals delivering on bicycles

For food delivery employees delivering via bicycle, current delivery bags fail to solve key issues such as bag comfort, optional expansion for larger orders, and organization of multiple orders. This project aims to solve these issues by creating a product that allows the user to execute food delivery seamlessly and effectively.

Katie Eubank

Arts and entrepreneurship center to encourage public arts participation

Interest in arts and starting artistic small businesses are on the rise but many find traditional arts spaces intimidating. The center utilizes exhibit design principles to inspire and encourage guests.

Nathan Gobrogge

Chick-fil-A Catering Reimagined

Bringing the dining room experience of Chick-fil-A to any event. This is a sponsored project focusing on catering and how to provide a better experience to the catering buyer and end user.

Personal Prosthetics: A Fresh Approach to Upper Limb Prosthetics Stylization

This project fills the gap in the prosthetic covers market by tackling the problem of designing a prosthetic cover for upper limb amputations and all of the technical challenges this presents. There are multiple types of upper limb prosthetics, and my prosthetic cover will work for body powered prosthetics, passive prosthetics, and some myoelectric prosthetics, for amputations both above and below the elbow.

MICAH Levitsky

High Angle Rescue Innovations for 2040

This project imagines innovative systems and products to assist rescue personnel and victims during high angle search and rescue operations. The project aims to create safer and more efficient rescues that require less personnel and gear.

Sam Swenson

Brown Wellness Center for First Responders

First Responders deal with risk of physical injury and mental stressors every day. This center aims to provide a place for them to get physical training and therapy for the mental trauma they deal with regularly.

Evan Weatherly

Audi Formula 1 Motorhome : Carbon Neutral by 2030

In response to the expanding Formula 1 infrastructure, my project aligns with F1's ambitious mission to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030. Building upon the current regulations for car manufacturing, I aim to extend these principles to the design of an Audi Formula 1 motorhome, setting a precedent for sustainable innovation in team facilities. This initiative not only promotes eco-friendly architecture across F1 circuits but also invites environmental responsibility and elevates hospitality standards for Audi F1 through creative and sustainable motorhome design.

Noah Wiese

Project Helix: Pioneering the future of automotive USER experience in 2040

Automotive design is shifting focus from mere aesthetics to the entire experience. This project proposes a concept car that serves as a mode of public transportation within an American urban setting that redefines the automotive user experience for future generations.

Jonny Yoder

Reimagining the Helmet for the American Fire Service

My capstone project seeks to address a critical gap in current fire helmet solutions: protecting against the rising threat of cancer. By blending tradition with innovation, I aim to design a helmet that prioritizes the health and well-being of firefighters.
