Student Experience

The ICC Industrial and Innovative Design student life experience is truly a unique one! We partner closely with Cedarville University to make sure that your main campus experience continues on our design campus, but also that it flourishes in new and exciting ways that are completely unique to the International Center for Creativity.

The Industrial and Innovative Design major truly gives you the best of two great experiences in that you get to spend your first two years of the program on Cedarville's beautiful and vibrant campus, participating in daily chapels, establishing friendships, joining the IID Student Org, and having the opportunity to support community outreach and service projects.

For your junior and senior years, you will get to transition to the ICC's campus in the Columbus suburb of Dublin, and be immersed in your design training in a real-world design studio setting minutes from all of the amenities that come with being one of the top rated cities in the United States! From the Columbus Blue Jackets NHL hockey team, to the art galleries of the Short North, to miles and miles of hiking and biking trails, to restaurants and retail of every kind, Columbus is also home to a large community of industrial design professionals.

Choosing an Apartment

Students are classified by Cedarville University as “off campus” students during their junior and senior years and commute daily to the ICC studios from thousands of apartment units within a few miles of the ICC. Because we value Cedarville University’s mission and our testimony in the community, each student who lives off campus is expected to live by the Cedarville Covenant and Community Lifestyle Guidelines.

Typically apartment management, depending on the property, allows two students “per bedroom” providing an affordable situation for splitting rent. Students report paying around $300 to $350 per month plus their share of utilities to live near the studio. The ICC highly recommends that the students live south, southwest or west of the studio for traffic purposes and that strong preference is made for apartments within five miles.

Although the ICC does not officially partner with any apartment complexes, we will be glad to share where students have had the best experiences in the past. Additionally, the ICC student resident assistant (RA) and the Cedarville Industrial Design student organization can help connect incoming students with other ICC students for roommate options.

Spiritual Life Development

Our unique location allows for a unique experience, and very often students tell us that the transition to the ICC campus for their junior year is when they really started to own their personal faith. The ICC has partnered with local churches and ministry groups in central Ohio to create a network of ministry leaders and experiences to get students plugged in, challenged and supported in this important stage of development.

In addition to Cedarville requirements, the ICC program includes weekly chapel, small-group meet ups, one-on-one mentorship and discipleship opportunities, ministry and service experiences, and missions trips. Because of the small and personal environment (usually about 50 to 60 students), this team of spiritual life development leaders can build into students’ lives and complement the resources that are already available to them through Cedarville.

The partnership between the ICC and Cedarville continues to be the only Christian-oriented industrial design program in the world, providing a world class educational experience in a caring, biblically-based environment that cares as much for the person as the academics.
